Coaches are selected by the order of finish in the conference tournament with the overall champion being named head coach and each division winner of the other three divisions selected as assistants.

 

M.A.C. bios

 

 

Jeremy Hall, Center Area High School

Jeremy is a 5 year wrestler.  His accomplishments include:  1st place at MACs in his senior year and 3rd his junior year; 2nd place at Chartiers-Houston Tournament as a senior; 4th place in his Section both his junior and sophomore year and Section Champion his senior year.  In addition to wrestling, Jeremy is a 4.0 student who also plays soccer and runs cross country and track.  After high school Jeremy plans to attend a four year college for engineering.

 

 

David Baker, Montour High School

David is a 4 year letterman in wrestling.  He has been wrestling since the 5th grade.  David placed 1st in the MACs and 3rd at the West Mifflin Tournament.  He was a 2009 Section Champion.  David’s other interests include hunting and camping.  He plans to go to college for engineering.

 

 

Ben Fratangeli, Center Area High School

Ben is a four year letterman in wrestling.  His accomplishments include 2009 MAC champion; 2007 and 2008 MAC runner up; 2008 section champion; 2007 regional qualifier.  He is the first wrestler from Center High School to achieve 100 career wins.  Ben will attend California University of PA and is enrolled in their four year Industrial Technology Program.

 

 

Mitchell Spencer, Avella High School

A wrestler since grade school, Mitchell was the WPIAL runner up in 2007.  He was the 2008 and 2009 WPIAL Champion and then placed 7th at PIAA States in 2008 and placed 4th in 2009.  Mitchell has also run cross country and track, played football and is a member of the marching band.  He plans on going to college to be a teacher and wrestle.

 

 

Nathan Gohn, Ambridge Area High School

Nathan has been wrestling for 11 years.  He placed 3rd at West Mifflin Tournament and 4th at MAC as a senior.  He also runs cross country, has a GPA of 3.92 and is on the high honor roll.  Nathan’s other hobbies include fishing, hunting (archery) and camping.  He plans on attending Penn State Behrend, Erie Campus to study Mechanical Engineering.

 

 

 

Brett Torres, Freedom High School

Brett has been wrestling since he was 12.  He is in the ski and varsity club and has run track and played football.  He plans on attending Penn State Behrend and major in Engineering.

 

 

Drew Howard, Hopewell High School

Drew is a wrestling veteran of 14 years.  He is a four year wrestling letter winner, a two year team captain, three time MAC place winner, three time WPIAL qualifier.  He also participates in football and lifting.  Drew plans to attend Kent State University to major in Business Administration and further his wrestling career.

 

 

Kyle Appleby, Avella High School

Kyle has been wrestling since grade school.  He is a two time Section Champion; two time Section runner-up; 2009 WPIAL Champion; 2008 WPIAL runner-up; 2007 WPIAL 4th place; 2006 WPIAL qualifier; 2009 Regional 3rd place; 2008 Regional 6th place; 2009 State Qualifier and 2009 Dapper Dan contestant.

 

 

Mark Short, Hopewell High School

Mark has been a wrestler for 6 years.  He is a four year wrestling letterman and is a team captain.  He will attend Full Sail University in Orlando, FL where he will major in Computer Animation.

 

 

Petros Georgilas, Montour High School

First Montour wrestler with a 100 win career and first to place at States.  2nd place WPIAL 2009, 8th place AAA States 2009, selected All State for football.

 

 

Jake Leninsky, West Allegheny High School

Jake is a 13 year wrestler.  He is a four year varsity starter and letterman; three year MAC Champion; two time Section Champion; four year WPIAL qualifier; 2008 WPIAL 4th place; 2009 WPIAL Champion; 2009 State Qualifier

 

 

Adam Wakefield, Freedom High School

Adam is a three year wrestler and letterman.  He is a two time WPIAL qualifier.  In the future he plans on attending West Liberty State University where he will play football and hopes to wrestle.  Adam will study criminal justice and plans on becoming a state police officer or forensic scientist.

Eric Beck, John Marshall High School

OVAC – placed 5th @ 103 in 2009

State qualifier @ 103 in 2008 and @ 103 in 2007

Eric is a four year varsity wrestler and has also lettered three years on the soccer team, belongs to his high school’s Red Cross Organization and is a member of the National Honor Society.  He plans on attending The University of Northwestern Ohio to earn an associates degree in automotive and alternate fuels.

O.V.A.C.'s or wrestling, but I have coached in the O.V.A.C.'s for the past 8 years so I do have some knowledge of the sport, coaches and the wrestlers(2002).
