Lucas Sedgmer, a 1999 graduate of Cadiz High School was killed Friday evening in a head on car collision. I feel so much for his family and friends, I hope it is alright that I express my feelings over the net. I can feel your pain and know what it feels like first hand. They say time will help, but it will have to be a bunch of time because such a great person was taken! I remembered coaching against Lucas, being at Wellsville to beat Cadiz was a big thing. I always had a few good light weights, that I could move around to make the score interesting but when it came to Lucas! There was no moving around it always seemed like who I put in there, he would bend all up with his long legs and pin them! It makes it tough on a coach knowing the out come of a match before it happens! I know his family too, just like him. Always willing to help out, easy to talk to, and motivated. I know this must hurt the Cadiz community too. Us wrestlers are a close nit group, but Cadiz wrestling is a very close nit group. This is good though they will help in the healing process. Lucas as a wrestler was 3rd in the state of Ohio 3 times! and was also a 2 time OVAC Champion. The list goes on I'm sure! These are the words that his sister (Kay) Said at the funeral: No words can explain a man of his caliber. He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who has never lacked appreciation of earth's beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction. The man who is born with a talent which he was meant to use finds his greatest happiness in using it. If I can be of any help feel free to contact me
