My Rankings (Before OVAC)
OVAC Seeds
OVAC Place finishers 2004 Seed in ( )
This weight class was loaded with a bunch of State Talent! I went with last years 103 Champion Abbie Rush Wheeling Park. He was 28-0 at the time of the OVAC Tournament and is a very explosive wrestler. Rush went on to place 3rd in the State Tournament. Anthony Duffield East Liverpool now a 3 time OVAC placer was solid all year, showing this by his State Qualification at the end of the season. Brandon Miller Oak Glen was underrated all year, he only lost to Duffield by a point in the semifinals. He Then went on to capture a State title! Corey Lemasters Caldwell had a awesome season and could have easily been in the finals of the OVAC's. He finished the year with a 5th place finish at States. I had Jarrod Shaw Brooke ranked higher then the last 2 wrestlers. It seems like he was battling his weight too much last season. I expect better placement from him next season. Sean Mahley Cambridge had an excellent tournament in a very rough weight class. Logan Hartle John Marshall finished 2nd in the state placing ahead of Rush (I believe this had to do with positioning of brackets) and only 7th in the OVAC's to show the depth in this weight class. Chaz Clark Union Local whom I had ranked 9th also qualified for the big dance. Tim Cumpston Cameron got a rough draw at the OVAC tournament, but rebounded nicely with a 2nd place State finish. All of these wrestlers return next year! Also in this weight class you had 8 State Qualifiers, and 5 of those were State Placers: Anthony Duffield, East Liverpool, (11), Chaz Clark, Belmont Union Local, (10), Corey Lemaster, Caldwell, (11), Brandon Miller, Oak Glen, 11, Tim Cumpston, Cameron, 11, Donnnie Peck, Tyler Consolidated, 9, Logan Hartle, John Marshall, 11, Abbie Rush, Wheeling Park, 10.
