The coaches did a great job on the seeding of this weight class. They got all the right wrestlers and almost in the right order. Every seeded wrestler made the  quarter finals! Mick Nicola St. John is a senior with two OVAC titles under his belt and a fourth place finish at the State Tournament. It seems just like yesterday when I was talking to Mick's mother and she said" lets call him Mick now not Mickey any more" time flies.  Mick could push for a state title this year! Sean Mahley Cambridge a very physical wrestler showed his potential with an OVAC finals, and a trip to Columbus. Sean will play a big part in Cambridge's success this year. Jarrod Shaw Brooke a tough nosed wrestler who was always in the match ended his high school career with three OVAC placements. Craig Johnston Indian Creek a very solid wrestler with great work out partners will be one of many Creek wrestlers returning next year. Zach Basich Wheeling Central is one of the best wrestlers to come out of Central in many years. Only a freshman Zach continued to improve with a fourth place finish at the State Tournament. Next year with Coach Sean Doyle and company working out with Zach I think the improvement will continue. KJ Furbee Shadyside yet another solid wrestler showed his toughness in Florida over the summer battling with elite competition. This could only help for his senior season. Chad Ware Martins Ferry did not wrestle up to his potential at the OVAC Tournament, but did show his skills by qualifying for the State Tournament. Chad also wrestled in Florida this summer and continued to improve, you will see him and KJ at higher weights next year. David Bortz Steubenville Central continued to improve all season finishing his senior season with an eight place finish at the State Tournament. Keep an eye on Baker Oak Glen, and Majors Barnesville too.

Welcome to OVAeC Wrestling!

(Ohio Valley Athletic ex Coach) The purpose of this web site is to promote O.V.A.C. wrestling and the individuals that make it all possible. I don't proclaim to know everything about the
O.V.A.C.'s or wrestling, but I have coached in the O.V.A.C.'s for the past 8 years so I do have some knowledge of the sport, coaches and the wrestlers(2002).
