What a great young weight class. I had the top two wrestlers, but in the wrong order. Daniel Felton Brooke started off the season with a third place finish at the Brooke Classic A very competitive Tourney. Daniel peaked at the OVAC Finals with a win over Green, and then Finished third in the WV State Tournament Behind over all Champion Green. Ronell Green Wheeling Park aforementioned  was my number one choice, and also the number one seed at the OVAC Tournament. Green came up with silver at the OVAC Tourney, but did not let that stop him from his first State Title. I believe that Green had excellent work out partners that kept him on his toes all year. It was so hard to rank the four freshman in this class. They all seemed beat able one week and a stud the next week. Chase Clark Union Local a tough nosed wrestler placed the highest at the OVAC's but did not qualify for the State Tournament. Ethan Dray Oak Glen with his second place State finish became the highest placing Freshman at Oak Glen. Also he was the third freshman to place behind Jessie Mahan third place and Rhett Northcraft fifth place in 2003. Jimmy Reisz Beallsville lived up to his forth seed then went on to place sixth in the State of Ohio. Paul Rose Cambridge avenged a poor showing at the OVAC's to become  State Qualifier. I look for all of these young wrestlers to make an impact in the first three weight classes next year. Marvin Benson Meadowbrook one of only two seniors to place also went on to become a  State Qualifier. He also represented the OVAC vs. the MAC in All-Star action. Bryan Scammell St. Clairsville another excellent wrestler just missed State qualification.

Also in this weight class you had 9 State Qualifiers, and 4 of those were State Placers: Paul Rose, Cambridge, (9), 35-5; Marvin Benson, Byesville Meadowbrook, (12), 29-8; Jared Border, Caldwell, (9), 29-11; Jimmy Reisz, Beallsville, (9), 38-4; Ethan Dray Oak Glen FR 24-11; Ethan King, Magnolia FR 17-21; Julian Yost Tyler Consolidated FR 24-16; Ronnell Green, Wheeling Park So 38- 5; Daniel Felton, Brooke So 42- 5.
