This weight class was filled with expectations and to me lived up to all of them! Adam Hoppel Beaver Local was my number one pick from the start. A very talented wrestler from a talented wrestling Family! The O.V.A.C. final match at heavy weight was the most anticipated finals since Moxley/Kennan, and lived up to all expectations. Adam and Koel did not just dance around, they went at it and gave the crowd everything they came to see. Adam went on to finish second at the State Tournament. If my rankings were for the State Tournament Koel Davia Union Local would have been my number one choice. Koel also is a second generation heavyweight with a great supporting family. Adam knows how to win at the OVAC's (a 4 time OVAC Champion), and Koel knows how to win at the State Finals (a 3 time State Champion)! Koel is continuing his wrestling career at Lockhaven. Maurice Hines Indian Creek was lost in the shuffle with Hoppel and Davia in your weigh class it is easy. Maurice will be a very strong and quick heavyweight next season and should be a finalist. Scott Neuenschwander St. Clairsville was yet another great heavyweight, using light weight moves on the big boys. Scott was a State placer to finish his high school career. Lucas Michel Shenandoah was a surprise placer and should be a wrestler to watch next season. Eric Wagner Buckeye Local lived up to his number six seed. Andrew Fegal Weir finished seventh at the O.V.A.C.'s and was also a State Champion. Wesley Haslam River a cold and hot wrestler finished eighth but did place at the State Tournament. This was the best weight class at the O.V.A.C. last year in my mind!!!

Also in this weight class you had 10 State Qualifiers, and 7 of those were State Placers and 2 State Champion: Adam Hoppel, Lisbon Beaver, (12), Scott Neuenschwander, St. Clairsville, (12), Koel Davia, Belmont Union Local, (12), Wesley Haslam, Hannibal River, (11), Matt Wiseman, Oak Glen, 10, C.J. Manning, Cameron, 12, Lance McKeever, Tyler Consolidated, 12, Andrew Fegal, Weir, 12, Derrick Molnar, Brooke, 12, Kevin Staub, Wheeling Park, 11.

Welcome to OVAeC Wrestling!

(Ohio Valley Athletic ex Coach) The purpose of this web site is to promote O.V.A.C. wrestling and the individuals that make it all possible. I don't proclaim to know everything about the
O.V.A.C.'s or wrestling, but I have coached in the O.V.A.C.'s for the past 8 years so I do have some knowledge of the sport, coaches and the wrestlers(2002).
