My Rankings (Before OVAC)
OVAC Seeds
OVAC Place finishers 2004 Seed in ( )
This was a senior dominated weight class with a bunch of wrestling experience. Three wrestlers were three time placers! The first of which my number one pick Brock Bowman Buckeye Local. Brock did not have any easy O.V.A.C. Tournament with his last three matches (4-2, 2-1, and 7-4) being very close. Bowman finished his high school career with a trip to the State Tournament. Rhett Northcraft Oak Glen a very aggressive wrestler showed that he was not intimidated by the seniors with his second place finish. He continued this trend with a State Championship win over a senior. Rhett will be a wrestler to watch next year! Jesse Irwin Shadyside has had success from the start of his high school career, (he is the second 3 time placer) and continued this with a one point loss in the State Finals. Thad Crosier Steubenville got better and better as the season grew longer. Thad finished the season with a fifth place finish at the State Tournament. Thad was the third wrestler in this weight class to place three times. Bud Hines Barnesville is a very hard nosed wrestler. He is the kind of wrestler I enjoy watching. Bud is always in high gear! He is also a wrestler to watch out for next year. Matt Hannahs Shenandoah an other long time wrestler fought through injuries to become a State Qualifier. Matt showed that sometimes it takes heart to make it. Corey Adkins John Marshall did not have a great O.V.A.C. Tournament but did bounce back and capture a second place finish at the State Tournament. Also in this weight class you had 11 State Qualifiers, and 5of those were State Placers and 1 State Champion: Brock Bowman, Rayland Buckeye Local, (12), Thad Crozier, Steubenville, (12), Matt Hannahs, Sarahsville Shenandoah, (12), Jesse Irwin, Shadyside, (12), Rhett Northcraft, Oak Glen, 10, Josh Whipkey, Cameron, 11, Josh Whipkey, Cameron, 11, Junior Yost, Tyler Consolidated, 10, Donald Gianessi, Weir, 11, Corey Adkins, John Marshall, 12, Jesse Mestrovic, Wheeling Park, 12. |
