Wheeling Park@ North Canton Holiday Tournament

Here's a recap of the team from the weekend. This is our last week of traveling until late January so those following the program we'll be back in town so you can come cheer us on. The past seven days have been very tough but the experiences gained by our guys have been great.

103 lbs- We did not have a 103 lbs compete at Claymont or over the weekend. Our situation is getting better with more guys in the room and better workout partners.

112 lbs- John Nice went 0-2 against some very tough competition. John is improving greatly every week and should see some success in the coming month.

119 lbs- Dirk had a great weekend in a very deep weight class with three Ohio state placers. He lost 2-0 in overtime to James Inghram of University in the final. Inghram is a runner up and third place finisher in the state of Ohio along with a third place finish at the ironman two weeks ago. He is now 9-2 with both losses coming to nationally ranked individuals.

125lbs- Aaron went 1-2 on the weekend. He lost 3-1 to the eventual runner up in the 2nd round and lost 4-2 in OT in the cons. Aaron is adjusting to being a weigh class up and its just taking some time. Aaron is 6-3 on the season.

130lbs- Nick went 3-2 losing a touch OT match in the 2nd round and then to pa state qualifier Catalano. The second round loss was the one that hurt nicks chance of placing. Nick is 8-3 on the season.

135lbs- As stated last week Hans is wrestling two weight classes up and doing a great job. He went 3-2 on the weekend with some quality wins. He is now 7-4 on the season.

140lbs- Cody Berisford went 0-2 on the weekend against some tough competition. This is Cody's first year of varsity experience and North Canton is a tough tournament for anyone especially a first year starter. Cody is now 5-3.

145lbs- Marcus George went 2-2 over the weekend. He lost a tough match in the quarters that he was leading 2-0 with a minute left, and then lost his next match in the consis. Marcus wrestled through some injuries the past three days and with a week off should be ready to go at the duals. Marcus is 6-4.

152lbs- Luke Braunlich went 0-2 on the weekend. As with Cody, Luke is young (freshman) and this was a tough weekend for him. Luke is now 1-6.

160lbs- We were without a 160lbs this weekend. Tyler Settle has been ill and we decided to rest him. We did not take a backup.

171lbs- Danny Doyle had a good weekend going 4-2 with a 5th place finish. In the semis Danny scored the first two take downs to lead 4-1 and then we gave up the last three take downs to lose 9-7. He did finish 5th in what was probably one of the top two or three weight classes. Danny is now 8-3.

189lbs- Tucker had a good weekend going 2-2 with losses coming to Ohio state placer Hojnacki and WV state placer Dempsey. Tucker is now 6-3 on the season.

215lbs- Mike Lough went 1-2 on the weekend. He did lose a close battle to eventual 6th place finisher Crowley of Wadsworth 5-3. Mike is a first year starter that is still improving. Mike is now 6-3 on the season.

285lbs- Zack Kimmins went 2-2 on the weekend. Zack is improving and is 5-5 on the season.

Again we're learning a lot right now with seven new starters and nine underclassmen. Hopefully our park supporters on the site will be out to cheer us on at the duals next week! I'll try to keep those fans that are always inquiring about the team posted on this site as it seems the most convenient for everyone until we can get our own web site up. Have a great Christmas everyone!! God Bless...

(Ohio Valley Athletic ex Coach) The purpose of this web site is to promote O.V.A.C. wrestling and the individuals that make it all possible. I don't proclaim to know everything about the
O.V.A.C.'s or wrestling, but I have coached in the O.V.A.C.'s for the past 8 years so I do have some knowledge of the sport, coaches and the wrestlers(2002).
