1st - Ralston (Southview) dec Dronzek (Beachwood) 2-0
3rd - Spangler (Keystone) dec McCommas (Beaver local) 4-2
*Ralston got a takedown very early on Dronzek in the first and that was it. Both
wrestler's chose neutral in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Spanger (Keystone) wrestled
well, only losing 4-2 to state placer and eventual champ Ralston.

1st - Miller (Beaver local) dec. Inchaurregui (Southview) 7-4 GREAT MATCH!!!
*Both TF their semi-finals opponents to set up a match that featured 2x state
qualifier Miller and state placer Inchaurregui. Miller started off the match in
control with a takedown. In the third, with Miller up 4-1 with about 30 seconds
left, Inchaurregui reversed Miller and then tried to kick him. Miller maintained
his base and the 1 for the escape was not receive for about 10 seconds. With
little time left, Inchaurregui got desperate and gave up another takedown for a
7-4 final.

1st - Jacober (Beachwood) fall
Gerber (Clyde) in 3rd.
*Jacober controlled the entire match and was up big when he got the pin. In the
semi's, he defeated Ryan (Jefferson Area), the number 1 seed, by a score of 3-2.

1st - Liechty (Fairview) dec Stiffler (Clyde) 7-1
3rd - Taylor (Worthington Killbourne) dec Marcial (Southview) 19-12
5th - Walker (Copley) dec Swartz (Beaver local) 12-5
* This weight class was very competitive. Tomayko (Copley) lost to Liechty in OT
in the quarters and failed to place (after losing to in consolation). Walker and
Taylor each split matches with Walker winning in the pool and Taylor winning in
the consolation round. Walker also split matches with Swartz, losing in the
first round but defeating him for 5th. I thought the 3rd place match was the
most exciting match of the 3 finals matches. Taylor was up big but got thrown to
his back twice at the end of the third period and nearly got pinned in the first
throw.

1st - Lawrence (Westlake) dec Ramsey (Lakewood) 4-2
* After watching Lawrence destroy everyone, I expected him to do the same to
Ramsey. However, Ramsey wrestled very well. At one point in the 3rd (with the
match 4-2), Ramsey looked like he was in position to get a takedown. Ramsey is
only a sophomore and should be watched out for
in the future.

1st - Tomayko (Copley) fall Brunner (Avon Lake) 5:51
* Tomyako continues to impress me. While he has always been a pinner, NEVER
would I think he would have TWENTY ONE (21) pins this season (IN ONE MONTH!).
None of his matches made it out of the first period until the finals (his
semifinals match was a whole 33 seconds). In the finals, Tomayko was up 5-0 (I
believe) in the third and looked to be on his way to a decision until he hit
some sort of funk and got the pin. He also improves to 23-1 on the season and
should be watched out for at the firestone district.

1st - Ice (Beaver local) fall Garrison (Copley) in the first period
Ice is good... very good. Like Tomyako, he pinned his way through the
tournament. Garrison is a tough wrestler (I want to say he is now 19-5 on the
season) and I did not see him getting pinned so quickly by Ice. Ice will place
in states again this season and could possibly run for a title his senior
season.
145
1st - Martinez (Southview) dec Sclimenti (Lake) 3-1
3rd - Habash (Copley) dec Hoffman (Worthington Killbourne) 7-4
* Sclimenti dec Hoffman 3-1 and Martinez dec Habash 5-1 in the semis. The finals
match was a great match as well. Sclimenti got a takedown with about a minute
left in the 3rd to tie the match. Martinez got the winning escape with about 30
seconds left.
152
1st - Cruz (Southview) dec Cawley (St Paul) 12-10 OT
* What a match!!! After the first, Cruz was up 7-4 and looked like he was on his
way to a win. Cawley scored 5 points in the 2nd to Cruz's 1 point to make it 9-8
Cawley after the 2nd. At the end of the 3rd period with the score 10-10, Cruz
was close to a takedown (very close) but didn't get the call. In Overtime, Cruz
got his takedown very early. However, after the match Cruz appeared to have hurt
his shoulder (anyone have any more info on this???)
160
1st - Blaine (Worthington Killbourne) tech Wheeler (Copley) 18-1
* Blaine teched Findley (Southview) in the semis and looked great against
Wheeler. Wheeler dec Gross (St Paul) 7-2 in the semis.
171
1st - Hainline (St Paul) dec Dever (Westlake) 3-1
Dever dec #1 seed Nentwick (Beaver local) in the semis. Hainline dec Bott
(Worthington Killbourne) in semis.
189
1st - Henderson (Beaver local) fall English (Southview)
* Henderson dominated the tournament. He teched Baffa (Fairview) in the semis
before pinning English. English dec Livengood (St Paul) 11-4 in semis
215
1st - Smugala (Westlake) dec Strickland (Clyde) 11-5.
* I did not catch much from the match (I was coaching Copley's 215 for 5th/6th).
Smugala was very short and strong while Strickland looked like a giant (6' 7"
maybe?) Smugala dec Santana (Southview) 8-5 in semis and Strickland dec Rhoade
7-1 in semis
285
1st - Burton (Southview) fall Doughty (St Paul)
* Doughty pinned Shaffer (Worthington Killbourne) in semis and Burton dec
Chizmadia (Keystone) 10-5 in semis.
